The problem: The trail is 8 inches narrower than the Jeep. We proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

 

 After prying boulders back with tree levers and fulcrums of stone, we attempt another breach

 
Yeah, we really drove over this... Once free of the forces of feldspar, the Jeep escapes into the woods above.
Within minutes another rocky barrier. This one added a creek for a little devilish twist. We left the Nissan behind. Good thing. On our return, we needed a tow to get back up the other side.
