Alaska
Ports of Call
| Ketchikan,
Alaska |
In Ketchikan, a town built on stilts, the renowned totem
poles are proud reminders of the area's still-strong native presence. Be sure to
wander down Creek Street, the town's now-innocent "red light" district.
And don't return to the ship until you've seen Misty Fjords, America's newest national
monument. Also, while you're in the "Salmon capital of the world" be sure
to sample the local fare at a salmon bake.
|
| Juneau,
Alaska |
Juneau, Alaska's colorful capital city, where you can view
the mighty Mendenhall Glacier, at sea level or during a thrilling helicopter ride.
For still more fun, be sure to stroll through the historic People's Wharf Neighborhood and
swagger into the famous Red Dog Saloon.
|
| Skagway,
Alaska |
In Skagway, a town of false front buildings and wood plank
sidewalks, the action is at the playfully "naught" Red Onion Saloon and in the
Days of '98 Saloon Theater. For a real sense of the past, travel aboard the narrow
gauge White Pass and Yukon Railroad.

|
| Sitka, Alaska |
In Sitka, the one-time capital of Russian America, our
guests are always impressed with a visit to the onion-domed St. Michael's Cathedral and
the oldest building in Alaska: the Russian Bishop's House. While you're here, don't
miss catching a performance of the new Archangel Dancers. But don't expect a
performance from Sitka's volcano, Mount Edgecumbe; it's been dormant for ages.
|
| Yakutat Bay |
Sailing south, you'll visit yakutat Bay, birthplace of
icebergs and home to the Hubbard Glacier, the largest in North America. This wonder
of nature is 92 miles long, 300 feet high and six miles across. It's also knows as
the "Galloping Glacier" and once advanced 47 feet in a single day!
|
| Valdez, Alaska |
En route, you'll also get a taste of Europe among the
snow-capped mountains of Valdez, "The Switzerland of Alaska." Collectors
of trivia might want to note that the TransAlaska Pipeline ends in Valdez
|
| Seward, Alaska |
These idyllic cruises begin or end in Seward, a picturesque
fishing town on Resurrection Bay. You'll also visit Anchorage, a cosmopolitan city
in a rustic mountain setting. If you choose to extend your time, and overnight in

quaint curio shops. Also, be sure to stroll through the exquisite gardens of Stanley
Park.
